Embassy News
Russia - Due to the high volume of visa applications during Russia's busy travel season, Russian Consulates are accepting visa applications based on the travel date to Russia.
China - Due to the high volume of visa applications duringthe summer busy travel season, the Chinese Consulate in New York has announced that they will not be offering same-day emergency processing during May, June and July. Rush 24 hour processing is available, and emergency processing is available through other Travisa locations.
Angola - Effective June, 2011 the Embassy of Angola has resumed visa processing. Travisa in Houston, New York and Washington DC can all process visa applications as normal.
Jordan- Effective June, 2011 the Consulate of Jordan in San Francisco has temporarily halted visa services. All visa requests can be processed through Travisa in Washington DC.
Czech Republic - Effective May, 2011 the Consulate of Czech Republic in New York has announced that they will no longer accept student visa applications from third parties. Student visa applicants in the New York jurisdiction will need to apply in person for this visa.
Djibouti - Effective May, 2011 the UN Permanent Mission for Djibouti is no longer accepting any type of visa. All visa requests can be processed through Travisa in Washington DC.
United Kingdom - The UK Border Agency has announced they will be closing offices in Chicago and Los Angeles. Effective April 6th, 2011 all British Visa Applications will be processed by Travisa in New York.
United Arab Emirates - Effective January 2nd, 2011, Canadian Passport holders are required to obtain a visa prior to entering the United Arab Emirates.

New Visa & Passport Requirements
Thailand - Effective June, 2011, a copy of the birth certificate will be required for minors (under 16). In addition, if the minor is not traveling with both parents, a letter of consent signed by the non-traveling parent(s) is required.
Brazil - Effective June 1st, 2011, applications for residents in Connecticut's jurisdiction (processed through Travisa in New York) must be notarized.
China - Effective May, 2011, the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco now requires an itinerary or detailed letter explaining the itinerary for Crew Visa issuance.
Nigeria - Effective May, 2011, all Nigerian Consulates will enforce the requirement for online payment of consular visa fees. Processing charges can still be payed through Travisa, but visa fee must be paid online and payment receipt must be included with the application.
Pakistan - Effective May, 2011, the Consulate of Pakistan in Houston now requires an invitation from the host in Pakistan for tourist visa applications. The host must provide a copy of their Pakistani passport or Pakistani ID card with the invitation.
Russia - Effective May, 2011, minor children applying for a homestay visa must provide a copy of both parents' passports along with their visa application materials.
Belgium - Effective April 21st, 2011, the Belgian Consulate in New York has introduced a biometric data requirement for the Schengen visa. Applicants will need to go in person to have biometric photograph and fingerprints taken.
Bangladesh - Effective March, 2011, the Embassy and Consulates of Bangladesh will be enforcing jurisdictional restrictions.
United States - Passports - Effective March 1st, 2011 the U.S. Department of State has introduced new passport application forms. Forms should be completed online. The correct form (for a New Passport, Passport Renewal, Name Change, etc) will print based on the information entered by the applicant as the passport application form is filled out.
Australia - Effective April, 2011, the original passport will not be required for processing Australian Visas. Photocopies of the relavent passport information pages can be submitted instead of the original.
United States - Passports - Effective April 1st, 2011, the U.S. Department of State will require the full names of the applicant's parent(s) to be listed on certified birth certificates to be considered as primary evidence of U.S. citizenship for passport applications. Certified birth certificates missing this information will not be acceptable as evidence of citizenship.
India - Effective March 8th, 2011, Birth Certificate copies are no longer required with Indian visa applications.
United Arab Emirates - Effective January 2nd, 2011, Canadian Passport holders are required to obtain a visa prior to entering the United Arab Emirates.
New Fees
Australia - Effective July 1st, 2011, the consular fees for Australian visas have increased.
Kenya - Effective July 1st, 2011, the consular fees for Kenya visas have increased. Visa fees will be based on the date of entry to Kenya, rather than the visa processing date.
Benin - Effective May, 2011, the consular fees for Burundi visas have increased slightly for US citizens.
India- Effective April 18th, 2011, the consular fees for all Indian visas will increase by $3. Visa application forms completed before April 18th will not be affected, but the additional $3 will be charged for all Indian visa application forms completed after this date.
Benin - Effective April 1st, 2011, the consular fees for Benin visas have increased for US citizens.
Japan - Effective April 1st, 2011, the consular fees for Japan have visas have changed.
Thailand - Through March 31st, 2011, the government of Thailand has exempted tourist travelers of all nationalities from paying a consular visa fee. Effective April 1st, 2011, consular visa fees will be required.
Bangladesh - Effective January 15th, 2011, the consular fees for Bangladesh visas have increased for US citizens.
United Kingdom - Effective January 10th, 2011, British Passport renewal fees have decreased.
Mozambique - Effective January 3rd, 2011, the government of Mozambique has increased visa fees and introduced new visa options.
Australia - Effective January 1st, 2011, the government of Australia has increased consular and visa fees.
Bahrain - Effective January 1st, 2011, the consular and visa fees for Bahrain have increased.
Jordan - Effective January 1st, 2011, the consular and visa fees for Jordan have increased.
Singapore - Effective January 1st, 2011, the consular and visa fees for Singapore have increased.
New Forms
China - The government of China has introduced a Chinese new visa application form. Effective June, 2011, all US Consulates will begin requiring the new application form.
Russia - The government of Russia has introduced a new online visa application form. Effective July 1st, 2011, all US Consulates will begin requiring the new application form.
Canada - January 15th, 2011, a new application form introduced by the Embassy of Canada; only the Washington DC application form will be accepted for applications submitted to the Embassy in DC.
Belarus - January 1st, 2011 a new application form introduced by the Embassy of Belarus.
Bolivia - January 1st, 2011 a new on-line application form introduced by the Embassy of Bolivia.
Jordan - January 1st, 2011 a new application form introduced by the Embassy of Jordan.
